Kingswood Music Theatre inside Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada on July 5, 1987. One of the first concerts I photographed, long before I had an official "Pass". Camera body "crotched" (you should know this term if you're from my generation), lens taped under my arm (with jacket on). Girlfriend held onto the film when leaving (just in case). I photographed them (officially) 20 years later at the Pemberton Music Festival.

Nearing the end of my first trip to Europe in 1990, I was checking out an exhibition of military equipment at Horse Guards Parade in London, which was part of the preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. A shuttle bus arrived from Wetherby School, where 6 yr old Prince Harry attended. The excursion was chaperoned by Diana, Princess of Wales. I managed to capture a few quick shots of them before security made me put the cameras away. Glad they didn't take the film... (Sept. 14, 1990)

In Step Tour. Ottawa Civic Centre. This was a double bill night with Robert Plant as the second act. The "Pit" safety barriers had cross barriers in place after the regular barrier broke the week before at a Sting concert. I was told to stay crouched down after shooting the 1st 3 songs, instead of leaping over the cross-barriers in front of the audience.I got to watch SRV play from 15ft away for the entire show. Best seat in the house! (June 14, 1989)
Skiing on Blackcomb Mountain in British Columbia, Canada. I was hired by Tourism Whistler to photograph various celebrities when they came to town, for posterity reasons. Arnold's personal assistant asked me to take a photo of him and his buddy at the bottom of the chairlift then leave. Arnold asked me to go skiing with them so off we went. Great day in the snow.

Pink Floyd played a famous three-night run at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) Stadium in Toronto on September 21, 22, and 23, 1987, during their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour. I camped out for 3 days to get tickets to this show approximately 6 months earlier. I eventually sold the tickets because I managed to get an "All Access" pass to the Ottawa show and these subsequent Toronto shows. Long (good) story... (September 23, 1987)
Joe Cocker at the Wellington Town Hall, Wellington, New Zealand. Back story: I was on my 2nd tour of the New Zealand, taking photos for some tour operators. I was back at the hotel when a buddy of mine was checking out the town. He managed to stumble across Joe Cocker's road manager while they were doing the load-in for the show that night. He told the road manager that he was traveling with a famous Canadian Music Photographer (a little embellishing). The manager gave him 2 tickets and a Photo Pass for me! Feelin' Alright! 1988 Ontario - Back when we were all navigating the beginnings of creative careers, I had the privilege to photograph the Hip on many occasions. Those were the days of big dreams. It was great to see these guys rise to the top of the Canadian music scene. 20 years later we knew who "made it" as I photographed them once again at the Pemberton Festival in BC.

So... No, I didn't get to photograph them, but I did get to see them. Backstory: My college roomate won an all expense paid trip for two to NYC to see Cream at Madison Square Gardens 2005 (from Q107 in Toronto). So what does every awesome college roomate do? He invited me. First time for both of us in New York and we not only got to see the original members of Cream (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker) but we also saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds at BB King's Blues Bar the night before.
